Indegenous people have it right!

Absolute democracy stressed
PR
KATHMANDU, Aug 31 - Leaders of indigenous communities said on Wednesday, that rights of indigenous people will not be secured unless absolute democracy is established in the country.
Speaking at an interaction here on Wednesday, indigenous community specialist, Parshu Ram Tamang said, "Only absolute democracy can guarantee the rights of indigenous people. So we must work for democracy first."
Dr Chaitanya Subba said, "Indigenous people have been marginalized by rulers since the very beginning of unification of the country, so there should be provisions of reservation for indigenous people to correct the age-old social discrimination."
Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Badri Prasad Mandal, said the problems of indigenous people would be solved only if indigenous people secure majority in parliament and made necessary laws.

Democracy cannot be a gift

I read this news this morning on how INdian leaders are urging the king to reinstate democracy. That is kind of ironicl, don't you think? If democracy is to be had, it has to come from the desire of the Nepali people. They should fight for it and get rid of all obstacles that has prevented its taking proper root. Democracy cannot be a gift from anyone. Let it is a result of people's desire, if they so choose. Let is not be anything else.
